We all are aware that people want things and they want things now.
Not all of us have the patience to go to a store on a Saturday, because we work during the week. Nor do we have the patience to wait until the store opens at 10am.
One reason people love shopping online is convenience. A web store allows your business to be open 24 hours per day-7 days per week. Which gives you the ability to capture your audience any day, anytime.
With a web store, there is also the opportunity to Up-Sell and Cross-Sell your audience.
Both techniques can increase sales volume and provide a valuable service to your customers.
The statistics show that Up-Selling, (in which visitors are shown similar but more expensive products,) drives over 4% of sales. Cross-Selling adds to 0.2% of sales (such as displaying ‘people who bought this item also bought’). While these numbers may not seem that appealing, for most companies, a 4%-5% increase in just one aspect of their web store is a huge bonus.
Effective Cross-selling and Up-selling can Increase:
- Regular order totals
- Conversion rates
- Exposure to higher margin items and best sellers
- Overall customer satisfaction by helping to find the product or service that best meets your visitor’s needs
When customers are offered products or services that they actually want and will use, their perception of the company becomes more positive. The customer will feel as though the company has taken the time to understand the clients wants and needs.
The next time you are shopping online notice if you were persuaded to purchase a similar item, or a more expensive item! If you are an existing business owner without a web store offering Up-Selling and Cross-Selling, you may be missing out on additional revenue.
